Stronger Than A Bully features extensive use of two acronyms designed to push important points aimed at helping students avoid becoming the victim of a bully.

The first of these is S.M.I.L.E. which stands for: Stay cool, Make eye contact (take a positive posture),Identify the attack (verbal, physical, extorting, cyber, etc), Lead positive conversation, Erase the attack. These represent the actions for the person being bullied.

The second acronym explains the actions a bystander should take. H.E.R.O. or -  Help out (get involved), Empathize (identify with the victim), Respond with proper action andReport the incident. Open communication (talk about it with the victim).

Let's celebrate Earth Week 2013 by seeing how many Mission #125 students can bring NO TRASH snacks and LUNCHES!  We'll tally up totals each day, and students with NO TRASH in their lunch or snack packs will receive DOJO POINTS!

Suggestions are to send edible items that require NO packaging, or to send them in reusable/washable packaging that does not get thrown away.

Send reusable water bottles. Avoid buying bottled water and sending children to school with it. Instead, fill a bottle with filtered water each night then put it in the freezer so your child has cold water to drink throughout the day.

We greened-up the art room too! Ms. Lee has engaged each grade level in projects where they are creating art from ‘trash’.  Students created many wonderful sculptures using only scraps and items that others would see as garbage. Take a look at these projects in the library. With each student’s creativity we brought trash to treasure.

Frindle Performance:

Our field trip to see FRINDLE at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts is TOMORROW! (Tuesday, 4/16).

We will be leaving promptly first thing tomorrow morning, so PLEASE make sure your child is at school on time.

We can't wait to see what is in store for us at this exciting event!  Our class LOVED the book (and Mrs. Petlak cried reading the end), so we can only imagine how great the play will be!

REMEMBER to WEAR BLUE!

To make keeping track of our entire class much easier, we voted for everyone to WEAR BLUE tomorrow to our field trip.  This will help us stick together as Mission #125!

HELP!  We've produced and collected so much work this trimester that we need to send home what's in our Astro-Cases from the first trimester.  PLEASE send in as many paper handled grocery bags (like they have at Sunset Foods) as you have TOMORROW or FRIDAY so that we may put work from Trimester #1 in them to send home before the end of the week.  We will be filling our Astro-Cases with Trimester #2 work and showing you our work via digital photos at conferences!
